Homemade Eggnog

Homemade Eggnog

Delicious homemade eggnog. After finally realizing that in fact, you can create your own eggnog I gave it a shot. Granted its very easy as all you are doing is whipping then emulsifiying raw eggs with cream, milk and some sugar.

  • 6 eggs (at room temperature!)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • optional alcohol

Whisk yolks until they about double in size and turn a paler yellow. Slowly stir in sugar while whisking. If you are adding alcohol, slowly pour in while whisking. Then add the cream and milk while stirring. Next whisk egg whites until they peak and carefully FOLD the whites into the nog mixture. Once the whites are evenly mixed in put the mixture in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

Pour a glass and add nutmeg!

I got salmonella once from raw cookie dough. I fear eggs now, they are like loaded guns, bio-grenades with hair triggers.

Best Eggnog recipe EVER! This is how my mom made it since I was little every year while we decorated the Christmas Tree. So yummy!
And don’t omit the Nutmeg – the sprinkle on the top is what makes this the best and fresh ground from the nuts is always better than the preground.

And for the record .045% of the population gets salmonella from raw eggs. It does happen and it’s no fun it it does but it’s still unlikely.

    Happy Holidays! Cheers!

A few workers in our area got Salmonella poisoning. It is a good thing that they did not die and they have fully recovered. “
